About Sally M. Walker
Sally M. Walker (born 1956) is an American author of over 50 nonfiction books for children and young adults, specializing in science, history, and nature topics such as the Civil War submarine H.L. Hunley and forensic archaeology in colonial America. She won the 2006 Sibert Medal for Secrets of a Civil War Submarine and multiple Illinois Reads selections for works like Boundaries and Winnie. Born in New Jersey, she lives in DeKalb, Illinois, holds a B.A. from Upsala College, and worked as a children's book buyer and consultant before becoming a full-time writer.
