About Ryka Aoki
Ryka Aoki is an American author of novels, poetry, and essays, born to Japanese American parents and raised in Southern California's San Gabriel Valley. She earned an MFA in creative writing from Cornell University and teaches English at Santa Monica College and gender studies at Antioch University. Her notable works include the Lambda Literary Award finalist poetry collections Seasonal Velocities and Why Dust Shall Never Settle Upon This Soul, and the novels He Mele a Hilo and the award-winning Light from Uncommon Stars, nominated for the Hugo Award and winner of the Otherwise Award.
