Rosemary Sutcliff

Rosemary Sutcliff (1920–1992) was an English novelist best known for her children's historical fiction, particularly the Roman Britain series beginning with The Eagle of the Ninth (1954), as well as retellings of myths like Tristan and Iseult. Born in East Clandon, Surrey, she overcame Still's disease, which confined her to a wheelchair, to publish over 50 books starting with The Chronicles of Robin Hood (1950).
