Robin James Lane Fox (born 1946) is an English classicist and ancient historian who served as Fellow and Tutor in Ancient History at New College, Oxford from 1977 to 2014 and as University Reader in Ancient History. He is renowned for his award-winning books on antiquity, including Alexander the Great (winner of the Duff Cooper Prize and James Tait Black Award), Pagans and Christians, and The Classical World. Additionally, he is a prominent gardening writer and longtime columnist for the Financial Times.com
