About Robert McCloskey

John Robert McCloskey (1914–2003) was an American writer and illustrator of children's books, born in Hamilton, Ohio. He authored and illustrated classics like Make Way for Ducklings, which won the 1942 Caldecott Medal, and Time of Wonder, earning the 1958 Caldecott Medal, along with other notables such as Blueberries for Sal and Homer Price. Renowned for his detailed illustrations and stories often set in New England, he received multiple Caldecott Honors and was named a Library of Congress Living Legend in 2000.
