Robert Gaillard (1909-1975) was a prolific French writer and journalist born in Saintes, France. He began his career in journalism at La Presse in 1927, rising to editor-in-chief, and authored over 100 novels, many adventure stories set in the tropics and Americas, including series like Marie des Isles (adapted to film) and Les Aventures de Jacques Mervel.
