About Robert A. Heinlein
Robert A. Heinlein (1907-1988) was an American science fiction author, aeronautical engineer, and U.S. Naval Academy graduate who served as a naval officer until health issues forced his retirement in 1934. He pioneered hard science fiction with scientifically accurate stories, wrote influential juvenile novels in the 1940s-1950s and groundbreaking adult works like Stranger in a Strange Land, Starship Troopers, and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, and was among the first to publish in mainstream magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post. Known as the "dean of science fiction writers" and part of the "Big Three" with Asimov and Clarke, he won multiple Hugo Awards and the first SFWA Grand Master Award in 1974. page
