About Rivers Solomon

Rivers Solomon (b. 1989) is an American author of speculative fiction whose debut novel An Unkindness of Ghosts (2017) won the Firecracker Award, followed by The Deep (2019) winning the Lambda Literary Award and Sorrowland (2021) winning the Otherwise Award. They are non-binary and intersex, using they/them pronouns (or fae/faer), and have received degrees from Stanford University and the University of Texas at Austin's Michener Center for Writers. Solomon's work often explores themes of race, queerness, trauma, and marginalization through science fiction, gothic, and literary lenses, with influences including Octavia E. Butler and Ursula K. Le Guin.
