About Risa Wataya

Risa Wataya (born 1984) is a Japanese novelist from Kyoto who debuted at age 17 with Install, winning the Bungei Prize, and at 19 became the youngest winner of the Akutagawa Prize for Keritai senaka (I Want to Kick You in the Back), which sold over a million copies. She later won the Kenzaburo Oe Prize in 2012 for Kawaisou da ne? and has seen several works adapted into films, with her novels translated into multiple languages. After early success, she took jobs in Kyoto before resuming writing with bestsellers like Tremble All You Want.
