About Rinne Groff

Rinne Groff (born c. 1970) is an American playwright and performer trained at Yale University and NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she teaches. A founding member of Elevator Repair Service Theater Company since 1991, she has written plays including The Ruby Sunrise and the prominent Compulsion, which premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater starring Mandy Patinkin, as well as musical books for Saved! and Your Lie in April. Recipient of a 2005 Whiting Award and Guggenheim Fellowship, her works have been produced at major theaters like Yale Rep and Playwrights Horizons.
