About Rick Boyer
Richard Lewis Boyer (1943–2021) was an American author best known for his crime novel series featuring Charlie "Doc" Adams, a New England dental surgeon. His debut novel, Billingsgate Shoal (1982), won the Edgar Award for Best Novel in 1983. He also created the Places Rated Almanac in 1981, taught English at Western Carolina University until 2008, and wrote Sherlock Holmes pastiches.
