About Richard Russo
Richard Russo (born 1949) is an American novelist and screenwriter known for his realistic depictions of small-town life in the Northeastern United States. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2002 for his novel Empire Falls, which was adapted into an HBO miniseries, and has authored other notable works like Nobody's Fool (adapted into a film starring Paul Newman) and Straight Man (basis for the AMC series Lucky Hank). Raised in Gloversville, New York, he taught English at universities before retiring to write full-time.
