About Richard Peck
Richard Peck (1934-2018) was an American author renowned for his contributions to young adult literature, having written over 40 books after leaving teaching in 1971. His notable works include the Newbery Medal-winning A Year Down Yonder (2000), Newbery Honor and National Book Award finalist A Long Way from Chicago (1998), and others like The River Between Us and Are You in the House Alone?. He received the Margaret A. Edwards Award in 1990 and the National Humanities Medal in 2001.
