Richard Adams

Richard George Adams (1920-2016) was an English novelist best known for his debut novel Watership Down (1972), an anthropomorphic adventure about rabbits that won the Carnegie Medal and Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. Born in Newbury, Berkshire, he served in the British Army during World War II, then worked as a civil servant for over 20 years before becoming a full-time author in 1974 following the success of his book.
