About Rhys L. Isaac

Rhys Llywelyn Isaac (1937–2010) was a South African-born Australian historian renowned for his work on early American history, particularly colonial Virginia. com. He earned degrees from the University of Cape Town and Oxford, taught at La Trobe University in Australia, and won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for History for his book The Transformation of Virginia, 1740–1790.Pulitzer.org. His later work included Landon Carter's Uneasy Kingdom (2004), establishing him as a leading scholar of the American Revolution and Southern United States history.
