About René Guillot

René Paul Guillot (1900–1969) was a French writer of children's books who lived, worked, and travelled extensively in French West Africa, drawing much of his material from over 20 years spent there as a teacher. He authored over 50 novels for young readers, receiving the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1964 for his lasting contributions to children's literature.
