About Rebecca Goldstein

Rebecca Goldstein (born February 23, 1950) is an American philosopher and novelist who earned a Ph.D. in philosophy of science from Princeton University. She is the author of numerous acclaimed fiction and nonfiction works exploring philosophy, science, and Jewish identity, including The Mind-Body Problem, 36 Arguments for the Existence of God: A Work of Fiction, and Betraying Spinoza. A MacArthur Fellow, she received the National Humanities Medal in 2015 and other prestigious awards.
