About Raymond Abbott
Raymond Herbert Abbott (born April 21, 1942, in Newburyport, Massachusetts) is an American novelist whose works are often inspired by his experiences as a social worker on the Sioux Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. He earned a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in 1965 and pursued graduate studies at the University of Kentucky. Abbott has received a 1985 Whiting Award in Fiction, a 1979 NEA Grant, and fellowships from the Kentucky Arts Council, and he currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky.
