About Raul Hilberg
Raul Hilberg (born 1926) was an Austrian-born American historian and political scientist, widely regarded as the preeminent scholar and founding father of Holocaust studies. His seminal three-volume work, The Destruction of the European Jews (1961), provided the first comprehensive analysis of the Nazi machinery of destruction. He taught at the University of Vermont, served on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, and received numerous honors including Germany's Order of Merit.
