R. Kikuo Johnson

R. Kikuo Johnson (born 1981 in Maui, Hawaii) is an American cartoonist and illustrator known for his graphic novels including Night Fisher (2005), The Shark King (2012), and No One Else (2021), as well as covers for The New Yorker. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and now teaches cartooning there. His debut Night Fisher won the 2006 Harvey Award for Best New Talent and Russ Manning Award, while No One Else earned the 2021 LA Times Book Prize and made him the first graphic novelist to win the 2023 Whiting Award for fiction.
