About Philippe Doumenc
Philippe Doumenc (1934-2023) was a French novelist born in Paris, the grandson of General Aimé Doumenc, who worked for many years in long-haul aviation before becoming a writer. His debut novel, Les Comptoirs du Sud (1989), won the prestigious Prix Renaudot, and he authored several other novels and short story collections including En haut à gauche du paradis (1992), Les amants de Tonnegrande (2003), Contre-enquête sur la mort d'Emma Bovary (2007), and Un Tigre dans la soute (2008).
