Philippe Claudel (born February 2, 1962, in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, France) is a French academic, novelist, and film director. He is a professor of literature at the University of Lorraine (formerly Nancy), previously taught in prisons, and has directed acclaimed films like I've Loved You So Long (2008), which won BAFTA and César awards. His notable novels include Grey Souls (Les Âmes grises, Prix Renaudot 2003) and Brodeck's Report (Le Rapport de Brodeck).French
