Peter Hennessy

Peter John Hennessy, Baron Hennessy of Nympsfield (born 28 March 1947), is an English historian and academic specializing in the history of government and contemporary British history. His most notable works include the post-war trilogy Never Again: Britain 1945–1951 (Duff Cooper Prize 1992, NCR Book Award 1993), Having It So Good: Britain in the 1950s (Orwell Prize 2007), and Winds of Change: Britain in the Early Sixties, as well as The Prime Minister and The Secret State. He is Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History at Queen Mary University of London (since 1992), a Fellow of the British Academy, and a crossbench life peer in the House of Lords since 2010.
