Peter Carey (born May 7, 1943) is an Australian novelist renowned for his surreal and richly imaginative works, including the Booker Prize-winning novels Oscar and Lucinda (1988) and True History of the Kelly Gang (2001), as well as Bliss (1981) and Illywhacker (1985).
