About Pearl Bailey

Pearl Bailey (1918-1990) was an American entertainer, actress, singer, and author best known for her autobiographies including The Raw Pearl and Talking to Myself, her cookbook Pearl's Kitchen, and the children's book Duey's Tale. She won the Coretta Scott King Award in 1976 for Duey's Tale, a significant literary achievement recognizing her contributions to children's literature by African American authors.
