Paul Herman Buck

Paul Herman Buck (1899-1978) was an American historian and Harvard administrator best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Road to Reunion, 1865-1900 (1937), which examined post-Civil War reconciliation in the United States, and other works like The Role of Education in American History (1957). He served as Harvard's first Provost (1945-1953), Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Director of the University Library (1955-1964), shaping general education policies there.com
