About Paul Fleischman
Paul Fleischman (born September 5, 1952, in Monterey, California) is an American author of children's literature renowned for his innovative use of multiple voices and perspectives in works like the Newbery Medal-winning Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices (1988), Seedfolks (1997), and Whirligig (1998). He received a Newbery Honor for Graven Images (1982), the Scott O'Dell Award for Bull Run (1993), and was the U.S. nominee for the 2012 Hans Christian Andersen Award, following in the footsteps of his father Sid Fleischman, also a Newbery winner.
