About Patrick Süskind

Patrick Süskind (born March 26, 1949) is a reclusive German writer and screenwriter best known for his internationally bestselling novel Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (1985), which sold over 20 million copies worldwide, was translated into 49 languages, and adapted into a 2006 film. His breakthrough play The Double Bass (1981) was performed over 500 times in its first season, and he won awards including the 1996 German Screenplay Prize for Rossini while rejecting others like the Gutenberg Prize.
