Patricia Ferguson

Patricia Ferguson is a British novelist and short story writer whose work is often influenced by her background as a nurse and midwife. Her debut novel, Family Myths and Legends (1985), won the David Higham Prize, Betty Trask Award, and Somerset Maugham Award, while Peripheral Vision (2007) and It So Happens (2004) were longlisted for the Orange Prize (now Women's Prize for Fiction); her most commercially successful book is The Midwife's Daughter (2012).Royal Literary Fund, Women's Prize
