About Pablo Neruda

Pablo Neruda (1904-1973) was a Chilean poet-diplomat and politician renowned for his passionate love poetry and politically charged works. He gained international fame with Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair at age 20 and later produced the epic Canto General, earning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971. A communist senator and advisor to Salvador Allende, he died shortly after the 1973 Pinochet coup.
