About Paavo Haavikko

Paavo Juhani Haavikko (1931–2008) was a Finnish poet, playwright, essayist, and publisher, considered one of Finland's most outstanding postwar writers. He published over 70 works, starting with poetry in 1951, and led the modernist movement in Finnish literature with innovative style and profound influence across genres. His achievements include the Neustadt International Prize (1984) and the Swedish Academy Nordic Prize (1993).
