Olivier Rolin (born May 17, 1947, in Boulogne-Billancourt, France) is a French novelist and essayist known for his travel-inspired narratives and reflections on history and revolution. His most notable works include Port-Soudan (1994), which won the Prix Femina, and Tigre en Papier (2002, trans. Paper Tiger), shortlisted for the Prix Goncourt; other significant books are L'Invention du Monde (1993), Méroé (1998), and Suite à l'Hôtel Crystal (2004). A former member of the Maoist group Nouvelle Résistance Populaire and editor at Éditions du Seuil, he continues to write on global peregrinations and literary homage.com
