Oliver Onions

George Oliver Onions (1873–1961), an English novelist and short-story writer best known for his ghost stories, was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, and died in Aberystwyth, Wales. His most notable works include the ghost story collection Widdershins (1911) featuring "The Beckoning Fair One," historical novels like Poor Man's Tapestry (1946)—which won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize—and The Story of Ragged Robyn (1945), blending psychological horror, fantasy, and realism.
