About Natsuki Ikezawa
Natsuki Ikezawa (born July 7, 1945, in Obihiro, Hokkaido) is a Japanese poet, novelist, essayist, and translator whose works often explore themes of civilization, nature, and travel, drawing from his global experiences including time in Greece, France, and Okinawa. He gained prominence with the Akutagawa Prize-winning novel Still Lives (1988) and the Tanizaki Prize-winning The Navidad Incident (1993; Eng. trans. 2012), alongside editing major literary anthologies and receiving honors like the Purple Ribbon Medal (2007) and France's Order of Arts and Letters (2021).
