About Nathan Glazer and Daniel P. Moynihan
Nathan Glazer (1923-2019) was an American sociologist renowned for his studies on ethnicity and urban issues, most notably co-authoring Beyond the Melting Pot (1963) with Daniel P. Moynihan, which challenged assimilation theories, and We Are All Multiculturalists Now (1997); he taught at Harvard and UC Berkeley, co-edited The Public Interest, and received Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships. Daniel P. Moynihan (1927-2003), also American, was a political scientist, author, and four-term U.S. Senator from New York known for Beyond the Melting Pot, the controversial Moynihan Report (1965) on black families, and Secrecy (1998); his achievements include serving as U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Presidential Medal of Freedom (2000), and influencing social policy debates.
