About Naomi Iizuka

Naomi Iizuka (born 1965 in Tokyo) is a Japanese-born American playwright whose works fuse classical forms with contemporary themes, influenced by her multicultural upbringing in Japan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and the US. She holds a BA from Yale University and an MFA from UC San Diego, and heads the MFA playwriting program there; she has received numerous awards including the Whiting Award, PEN/Laura Pels Award, and multiple Joyce Awards.
