About Nancy Willard

Nancy Willard (1936–2017) was an American author renowned for her children's books, poetry, and novels, winning the 1982 Newbery Medal for A Visit to William Blake's Inn, the first poetry book to receive the award, along with other honors like the O. Henry Award and NEA fellowships. Her notable works include the Anatole trilogy and her debut novel Things Invisible to See. She was also a professor at Vassar College.
