About Nanae Aoyama

Nanae Aoyama (born January 20, 1983, Saitama Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese novelist who debuted with Mado no akari (2005), winning the 42nd Bungei Prize, and rose to prominence with her Akutagawa Prize-winning novella Hitori biyori (2007, translated as A Perfect Day to Be Alone), after which she became a full-time writer. She also received the Yasunari Kawabata Literary Prize in 2009 for Kakera, becoming its youngest winner, and her works have been translated into multiple languages including English.
