About Nadia Owusu

Nadia Adjoa Owusu (born February 23, 1981, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) is an American writer and memoirist of Armenian American and Ghanaian descent. Due to her father's work with the United Nations, she spent her childhood moving across countries including Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia, Italy, and England before settling in New York at age 18. She is best known for her award-winning memoir Aftershocks (2020), which earned a 2019 Whiting Award, and her essay chapbook So Devilish a Fire (2017).
