Murray Bail

Murray Bail (born September 22, 1941, in Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian author renowned for his novels, short stories, and non-fiction, with his most notable work being Eucalyptus (1998), which won the Miles Franklin Award, Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and ALS Gold Medal in 1999. Other significant works include Homesickness (1980), joint winner of The Age Book of the Year, and Holden's Performance (1987), which received the Victorian Premier's Literary Award. He remains active, with later novels like The Pages (2008) and The Voyage (2012), and served as a trustee of the National Gallery of Australia from 1976 to 1981.
