About Mona Simpson

Mona Simpson (born June 14, 1957) is an American novelist and the biological sister of Steve Jobs. She is best known for her debut novel Anywhere But Here (1986), a critical and popular success that won the Whiting Award and was adapted into a film starring Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman. She has published several other novels including The Lost Father, A Regular Guy, Off Keck Road (PEN/Faulkner finalist and Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize winner), My Hollywood, Casebook, and Commitment (2023), and teaches creative writing at UCLA and Bard College.
