About Mischa Berlinski

Mischa Berlinski (born 1973) is an American novelist best known for his debut novel Fieldwork (2007), a National Book Award finalist praised by Stephen King. Son of mathematician David Berlinski and cellist Toby Saks, he studied classics at UC Berkeley and Columbia, worked as a journalist in Thailand, and has lived in Italy and Haiti. His other novels include Peacekeeping (2016) and Mona Acts Out (2025); he has received the Whiting Award and Addison M. Metcalf Award.
