Michelle Magorian

Michelle Magorian is an English author of children's books, born in 1947 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, best known for her novel Goodnight Mister Tom, which won the 1982 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, International Reading Association Children's Book Award, and was voted among the UK's 100 best-loved novels; her other notable works include Back Home, Just Henry (2008 Costa Book Award winner), and A Little Love Song. She trained as an actress and mime performer before focusing on writing, often setting her stories in mid-20th-century Britain, particularly during World War II.com
