Michael Burleigh

Michael Burleigh (born 1955) is a British historian and author specializing in modern European history, terrorism, and populism, with notable works including The Third Reich: A New History (2000, winner of the Samuel Johnson Prize), Earthly Powers, and Small Wars, Far Away Places (2013, longlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize). He has held academic positions at institutions such as Oxford, LSE, and Cardiff University, served as the first Engelsberg Chair at LSE IDEAS (2019-2020), and received awards like the Nonino Master of His Time Prize (2012) and British Film Institute Award for Archival Achievement.
