About Meriol Trevor

Meriol Trevor (1919-2000) was a prolific British Roman Catholic author known for children's books, historical novels set in Romano-Britain and early Christian Europe, and acclaimed biographies that reflected her Catholic faith. She gained major recognition for her two-volume biography of Cardinal Newman, Newman: The Pillar of Cloud and Newman: Light in Winter (1962), which won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1963, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 1967.
