About Melissa Marr

Melissa Marr is an American author best known for her urban fantasy and dark fiction for young adults and adults. She grew up in the United States and spent years teaching college literature before her debut novel Wicked Lovely (2007) launched the bestselling Wicked Lovely series, which went on to sell millions of copies worldwide and was translated into dozens of languages. Marr's fiction is characterised by its lyrical prose, its immersion in faerie mythology and folklore, and its willingness to explore dark psychological territory alongside romantic and supernatural themes. Her adult novel Graveminder (2011) marked a significant expansion of her work into horror and gothic fiction, earning the Goodreads Choice Award for Horror. Beyond the Wicked Lovely series, Marr has written standalone novels, short fiction, and co-authored and co-edited several anthologies. She is also a prolific speaker and advocate for literacy and creative writing education. Her work has been praised for its combination of lyrical beauty and unsettling darkness.
