About Mary Stewart

Mary Stewart (1916–2014) was a pioneering British author of romantic suspense novels featuring intelligent, adventurous heroines, as well as the bestselling Arthurian Saga beginning with The Crystal Cave (1970). Her notable works include Madam, Will You Talk? (1955), The Moon-Spinners (1962, adapted into a Disney film), Nine Coaches Waiting (1958), This Rough Magic (1964), and the Merlin series: The Hollow Hills (1973) and The Last Enchantment (1979). She won the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for The Crystal Cave and The Hollow Hills, the Frederick Niven Literary Award for The Crystal Cave, and a Lifetime Achievement Agatha Award, acclaimed for her elegant prose and skillful storytelling.
