About Mary La Chapelle

Mary La Chapelle (born April 28, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American short story writer who graduated from the University of Minnesota and earned an MFA from Vermont College. She is the author of the collection House of Heroes and Other Stories and has taught writing at Sarah Lawrence College since 1992, recently retiring. Her accolades include the 1986 PEN/Nelson Algren Fiction Award and the 1988 Whiting Award.
