Mary Beard

Dame Mary Beard (born 1 January 1955) is an English classicist specializing in ancient Rome, formerly Professor of Classics at the University of Cambridge, and a trustee of the British Museum. She is renowned for notable works including SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome, Pompeii: The Life of a Roman Town (Wolfson History Prize winner), and Emperor of Rome, and has received major honors such as DBE (2018), OBE (2013), Bodley Medal (2016), and Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences (2016)
