About Mark Kurlansky
Mark Kurlansky (born December 7, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut) is an American journalist and author known for his nonfiction histories blending food, culture, and global events, with notable bestsellers including Cod: A Biography of the Fish That Changed the World (1997), Salt: A World History (2002), and 1968: The Year That Rocked the World (2004). He has received major awards such as the James Beard Award for Cod, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Nonviolence (2006), and induction into the Basque Hall of Fame.
